Old Forester "The President's Choice" is a Kentucky straight rye bottled at barrel strength, 59.5% ABV. It is the first rye released under the President's Choice label, and each bottle is a single barrel selected by Master Taster Melissa Rift and Assistant Master Distiller Caleb Trigo.
The whisky was aged for 117 months in newly charred American oak, from a mash bill of 65% rye, 20% malted barley and 15% corn. It is non-chill filtered.
Clove-led spice, cinnamon and cracked black pepper come first on the nose, with dark cherry and cedar. The palate has bold rye spice, dark chocolate, molasses and burnt orange. The finish is long and warming, with menthol, leather and sweet tobacco.
