Old Grand Dad 100 Proof Bonded is a Kentucky straight bourbon in a 750ml bottle, bottled at 50% ABV under the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897. That means one distiller, one distillery and one distilling season, with at least four years in a bonded warehouse.
It is the bonded version of the high-rye bourbon the brand created in 1882 in honour of Basil Hayden Sr. It is distilled at the Jim Beam plant in Clermont, Kentucky, and is a separate expression from the 114 proof.
The nose is led by cinnamon with caramel, vanilla and a hint of burnt oak. The palate brings big cinnamon spice, dark fruit and baking spices, and the finish of caramel candy and raw sugar is medium in length.
