Old Grand-Dad 100 Proof is a bottled-in-bond Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled at 50% in a 750ml bottle. It is produced at the Jim Beam distillery in Clermont, Kentucky.
Bottled-in-bond means the whiskey comes from a single distillation season and a single distiller, and has been aged for at least four years in a bonded warehouse. The mashbill is 63% corn, 27% rye and 10% malted barley, a higher share of rye than most bourbons use.
The nose is sweet corn, brown sugar, orchard fruit and orange peel, with vanilla. The palate opens with cinnamon and rye pepper, then caramel, toffee and roasted peanut. The finish is medium to long, with rye spice, nutmeg and dry oak.
