This is a Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 40% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It is the base expression of Old Grand-Dad, a high-rye bourbon created in 1882 by Raymond B. Hayden and named for his grandfather, Basil Hayden Sr., whose portrait appears on the bottle.
Today it is distilled at the Jim Beam distillery in Clermont, Kentucky, and sold alongside Old Overholt as "The Olds".
It is medium-bodied, with sweet vanilla, peppery spice and notes of clove and cinnamon. The finish is medium and lightly spicy.
