Old Grand-Dad Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey 1988 (75cl, 43%)

This is an Old Grand-Dad Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled in 1988 from whiskey distilled in the mid-1980s, at 43% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It was produced by National Distillers. The brand was created by Raymond B. Hayden in the late 19th century and named after his grandfather, Meredith Basil Hayden Sr. Jim Beam acquired it in 1987. The nose has cinnamon and burnt oak with vanilla and a little caramel. The palate returns to cinnamon, with dark fruits, spice and medium oak. The finish sweetens with toffee, brown cane sugar, cardamom and speculaas.
