Old Hamer is a straight bourbon at 40% ABV, in a 750ml bottle. The spirit is MGP distillate made at Lawrenceburg, Indiana from a mashbill of 99% corn and 1% malted barley, then aged by West Fork Whiskey Co.
It is matured in new charred American oak, which is what qualifies it as straight bourbon and brings toffee, spice and a little tannin to the corn base.
The nose is caramel and toasted oak with cinnamon, clove and dried orange peel. On the palate come brown sugar and dark toffee, then black pepper, nutmeg and charred wood, with an oily body. The finish is long and warming, with toasted grain, leather and bittersweet chocolate.
