Old Overholt Straight Rye Whiskey is a 4-year-old straight rye bottled at 43% in a 1 litre bottle. It is distilled by the James B. Beam Distilling Co. in Clermont, Kentucky, in the softer Kentucky rye style.
The brand dates from 1810, when it was founded in West Overton, Pennsylvania. The age statement has since been raised from three years to four, and the whiskey has been non-chill-filtered since 2020.
The nose brings black pepper, cinnamon and a flicker of mint over vanilla, caramel and light oak. The palate is smooth and balanced, with the oak adding roundness, and the finish is clean and gently spicy.
