Old Parr 18 Year Old is a blended Scotch whisky bottled at 40% in a 75cl bottle, with every component aged for at least eighteen years. It is blended by Diageo from malt and grain whiskies, built around Cragganmore and Glendullan single malts from Speyside.
The peat is kept low, so the Cragganmore character comes through clearly. The brand dates to 1909 and is named after Thomas Parr, the Shropshire farmhand of folklore said to have lived 152 years. It comes in the house's crackle-glazed, dimpled bottle.
The nose is roasted cashews, honeyed malt, dried apple and light citrus with a faint thread of smoke. The palate brings creamy vanilla, dried fruit, milk chocolate, coffee and orange peel, and the finish is long and mellow.
