Old Pepper Finest Kentucky Rye is a barrel-proof rye whiskey bottled at 58% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It comes from the James E. Pepper Distillery in Lexington, Kentucky.
The whiskey is distilled at MGP in Indiana from a mash of 95% rye and 5% malted barley, aged for at least three years, then finished in heavily toasted, lightly charred barrels made from Kentucky oak. The staves are air-dried for 24 months before the barrels are built.
The nose is orange peel, black pepper and black liquorice. The palate brings ginger, orange marmalade and graham cracker, and the finish is long and peppery, with cinnamon.
