Old Pepper Single Barrel Rye Barrel Proof is a Kentucky rye made at the James E. Pepper Distillery in Lexington. It comes in a 75cl bottle at a cask strength of 52.7% ABV. The mash bill is 95% rye and 5% malted barley, and the whiskey was aged for two to three years. Each release comes from a single barrel. The nose opens with fresh herbs, dill and anise, with butterscotch and baking spice behind. On the palate come cocoa, leather, apricot and vanilla toffee, followed by a long, spicy finish with oak and citrus zest.
