Old Potrero 6 Year Old is a rye whiskey from San Francisco, made from 100% malted rye and pot-distilled. It is aged for a minimum of six years in new, toasted (not charred) American white oak barrels, the wood air-dried for 24 months, and bottled at 51.2%.
The malted rye is treated much as single malt Scotch is, in the manner of 18th-century whiskey making.
The nose has dark fruit, lively spice and a hint of vanilla. The palate is rich and complex, with balanced sweetness, fresh clean oak and pronounced rye spice alongside malt. The finish is long and lingering.
