Old Potrero 6 Year Old is a straight rye whiskey in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 48.5% ABV.
It was aged in new, handmade, fine-grain American oak barrels that have been charred. The charring gives the rye a rich colour and a distinct character.
Charred barrels date back to the early 19th century, when coopers found that letting the heat carry on while shaping the staves set the inside of the barrel alight and left it charred.
