Old Pulteney – 12 Year Old 1990s Bottling (70cl, 40%)

This is a 12 year old Old Pulteney from the 1990s, a single malt from Wick in the Highlands, bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in ex-bourbon casks. The 12 year old was first launched in 1997 and formed the core range in the Inver House era. It won a Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2006. The nose is typically described as brine, citrus and light vanilla, with honey and spice. The palate is smooth, with dried fruits, caramel, light oak and a delicate sweetness. The finish is long, with malt, a gentle maritime character and some warmth.
