Old Rip Van Winkle 10 Year is a Kentucky straight wheated bourbon, aged for 10 years in new charred American oak and bottled at 53.5% ABV (107 proof) in a 750ml bottle. This is the 2021 release.
It was distilled and bottled by Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort for the Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery Co. The mash bill uses wheat in place of rye, and the strength is higher than that of the Family Reserve bottlings.
The nose is sweet vanilla with caramel, pecan and oak. The palate is smooth and mellow, with wheat, cherries and oak, followed by a long, smoky wheat finish with hints of fruit, spice and oak tannins.
