The Old Rip Van Winkle name is a pre-Prohibition label revived by Julian Van Winkle Jr, who used stocks from the old Stitzel-Weller distillery. The brand passed to the next generation in 1981, and Julian Van Winkle III and his son now run its production at the Buffalo Trace Distillery.
