Ole Smoky White Lightning is an unaged corn moonshine, bottled at 50% ABV (100 proof) in a 75cl bottle. It is the flagship high-proof expression from Ole Smoky Distillery, which opened in 2010 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
The spirit is distilled six times from corn and goes into the bottle without any barrel maturation.
The nose is grain and clean spirit with hints of vanilla and light caramel. The palate opens with raw corn sweetness and a fiery mid-palate, then faint vanilla and a slightly nutty note. The finish is long and hot, with lingering sugar and a clean grain echo.
