Castle's Curse is a 14 year old single malt Scotch from Teaninich Distillery in the Northern Highlands, released under the Orphan Barrel name and bottled at 47.4%. It was matured in selected European oak casks.
The label shows the kelpie, the shape shifting water horse of Scottish folklore, rearing out of the water above the castle.
The nose is light and fruity, with tangerine, poached pear and sweet confectionery over dried herbs, vanilla and oak. The palate is semi creamy, with red apple, orange zest and cantaloupe, then vanilla, toasted almond and a clear mint note. The finish is medium, with orange zest turning to lemon over lingering oak and spice.
