Scarlet Shade is a 14 year old straight rye whiskey from Orphan Barrel, in a 750ml bottle. It was distilled in Indiana and then aged at the Stitzel-Weller Distillery in Kentucky.
The nose is full-bodied, with vanilla buttercream, lightly toasted oak, banana bread and a touch of berries. On the palate come baking spices and rye toast alongside orchard fruits. The finish is sweet, with orange marmalade and a gentle warmth that fades to dark chocolate.
