Osbourne 10 Year Old Tawny Port

A 10 Year Old tawny port from the Douro valley, made from Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela and Tinta Barroca. The grapes are destemmed, gently crushed and fermented in steel tanks, and brandy stops the fermentation before all the sugar has become alcohol. The wine matures in traditional 550 litre pipes. Before bottling, tawnies of different ages are blended so that the average comes to 10 years. The colour is a light reddish brown. The nose is rounded and full, with walnuts, prunes, dried figs and a little dried flower. The palate is sweet, soft and mature, with a surprisingly firm bite in the finish.
