Pappy Van Winkle 20 Year Old Family Reserve 2011 Stitzel Weller

This is a 20 year old Kentucky-style bourbon from the Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve range, in the 2011 edition with a Stitzel Weller connection. Its makers say few bourbons stand up to 20 years of ageing, and they place it in the class of a fine after-dinner cognac. In the glass it shows a dark amber to dark orange colour. It is full bodied, with notes of oiled leather, smoke, minerals, coffee and cigar boxes, and a very long finish.
