Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve 23 Year Old is a Kentucky straight wheated bourbon, here in the 2005 Gold Wax edition. It is signed by Julian Van Winkle, and the capsule is dipped in gold wax. The 75cl bottle comes in its original black velvet bag. The wax pull-tab is disconnected.
The nose is caramel and cream with soft oak, nuts and leather. Vanilla, maple and honey come through on the palate, joined by citrus and spice, and the finish is long, with oak carrying the earlier flavours through.
