Parallèle 45 Côtes-du-Rhône Rouge

Parallèle 45 is a red wine from the southern Rhône, made from 55% Grenache Noir, 40% Syrah and 5% other varieties from organically grown vines around 40 years old. Grenache and the other varieties ferment in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, while Syrah ferments separately in smaller wooden vats; after blending the wine matures for nine months in steel tanks and upright wooden casks. It shows a bright ruby colour. The nose develops deep, complex tones of spice, cherry stone and Provencal herbs. The palate is dry and velvety, with bitter chocolate, English liquorice and red berries, finishing with a cool note that matches the spices. Soft tannins suggest good ageing potential. Serve with lamb, veal or white-mould cheeses.
