Paul Jaboulet Ainé Côtes du Rhône Parallèle 45 2020

A red wine from the southern Rhône, made from 55% Grenache Noir, 40% Syrah and 5% other varieties from organically grown vines about 40 years old. Grenache is fermented in large temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, while Syrah is fermented separately in smaller wooden vats, then the wine is aged for nine months in stainless steel tanks after blending. It has a bright ruby colour. The nose develops quickly, with spice, cherry stone and Provençal herbs. The palate is dry yet velvety, with bitter chocolate, English liquorice and red berries, finishing with a coolness that matches the spices. Soft tannins suggest good ageing potential.
