Paul John Bold is a peated Indian single malt from Goa, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour or flavouring.
Goa's tropical climate speeds up maturation, with an angel's share of around 8% a year, and the barley is grown at the foot of the Himalayas.
The nose opens with smoke, then Manuka honey, sharp spice and bourbon-like red liquorice. The palate is silky, with oak-like honey, a wave of spice, then smoke, dry molasses, peat and a hint of copper. The finish is light, with copper slowly emerging and smoky mocha shaped by delicate spices.
