Peallach (Ledaig) 10 Year Old 2014 Bodega PX Sherry Finish (50%)

Peallach is the name under which Glaschu Spirits Co. bottles this heavily peated Ledaig, the smoky malt made at Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull. It is a single cask bottling of 365 bottles at 50% ABV, distilled in 2014. The whisky spent nine years in a refill bourbon barrel, then eight months in a first-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry barrique from the Ximénez-Spínola bodega in Jerez. The character is full-bodied, with maritime peat smoke set against dark fruit and sherried warmth. The label shows a Boeing Stearman bi-plane approaching Tobermory Bay.
