Peerless High Rye Bourbon

This is a small-batch straight bourbon from Peerless Distilling Co., distilled and bottled in Louisville, Kentucky. The distillery's family roots go back to the 1880s, and it was re-established in 2015 by Corky Taylor and his son Carson. The mash bill holds a noticeably higher share of rye than a traditional bourbon, which adds spice alongside the caramel sweetness. It is not chill filtered. The nose combines seasoned oak, leather, citrus and cedarwood. On the palate come candied oak, toasted sugar and charred orange peel in a syrupy texture. The finish is sweet and earthy, with leather, tobacco and lingering spice.
