The Headliner is the ninth release in Penderyn's Icons of Wales series, bottled at 46%. It honours David Lloyd George (1863-1945), the only Welsh Prime Minister, a social reformer who became a symbol of the national reawakening of Wales.
The whisky is matured in Jamaican rum and ruby port casks.
The nose offers red berries, strawberries and cream, a hint of cranberry, light oak and vanilla, with nutmeg and cinnamon. On the palate come rich dried fruits, salted caramel, floral honey and a peppery kick with some tannin dryness. The finish begins sweet and fades to a dry, fruity close.
