Architect "Crème Brûlée" is a bourbon from Penelope Bourbon, bottled at 55% ABV in a 75cl bottle. The base bourbon comes from MGP in Indiana and is aged four to five years.
Penelope works with the French cooperage Tonnellerie Radoux to finish batches with custom oak staves, using OakScan technology to aim at the flavour of the dessert: vanilla custard, caramelised sugar and toasty bakery notes. Recent batches use a mash bill of 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% malted barley.
Penelope's notes describe sweet candied cream and floral character with a hint of crème brûlée, creamy sweetness turning herbal and floral, and a long finish of rich vanilla with some heat.
