This is an Extra Brut Blanc de Noirs Champagne from Philipponnat, a house founded in 1910 at Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. It is a vintage cuvée made from Pinot Noir, vinified in steel and aged for 70 months on the lees in bottle.
The house owns 21 hectares of vineyard, planted mainly with Pinot Noir.
The nose is broad and layered, with fruit and floral notes in turn. The palate is rich, deep and balanced, with a pleasing freshness and a long, toasty finish.
