Philipponnat Cuvée 1522 Rosé Premier Cru Extra Brut (75cl)

Philipponnat Cuvée 1522 Rosé is an Extra Brut Premier Cru rosé champagne. Its name recalls 1522, the year the Philipponnat family settled in the Champagne region and bought its first vines between Aÿ and Dizy. The blend is 70% Pinot Noir from Aÿ and Léon and 30% Chardonnay from Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger. Part of the base wine matures in wood, and about 8% still red wine from Mareuil-sur-Aÿ Pinot Noir is added. The bottles then rest five to six years on the lees before disgorgement. The nose shows raspberry and blackcurrant with a light floral hint. The palate is fresh, balanced and taut, and the finish is long and harmonious.
