Philipponnat Royale Réserve Rosé Brut (75cl)

Royale Réserve Rosé is a Brut rosé Champagne from Philipponnat, the house founded in 1910 in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. It is built on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with a little Pinot Meunier, from Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards around Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. Fermentation takes place partly in steel and partly in barrel. A small share of reserve wines aged in wood by the solera method is blended in, along with Pinot Noir for a delicate colour. The wine then rests 36 months on its lees in bottle. The mousse is fine and persistent. The nose is elegant, mostly small red fruit, and the palate is medium-bodied, fresh and fruity. It suits an aperitif or the table.
