Pig's Nose is a blended Scotch whisky created in 1977 by Richard Paterson as a partner to the Sheep Dip blended malt. The name comes from an old Scottish saying about a whisky being as soft and smooth as a pig's nose.
The blend has a high malt content, using Speyside, Highland, Lowland and Islay malts with Invergordon grain whisky. Every component is at least 5 years old and matured mainly in first fill American oak ex-bourbon barrels. It is bottled at 40% in a 750ml bottle.
The nose is sweet and malty, with butterscotch, pear, apple, creamy porridge and roasted almond, plus a faint briny edge. The palate is soft and rounded, with malt biscuit, vanilla and light spice.
