Pikesville Straight Rye Whiskey (55%)

Pikesville Straight Rye is a six-year-old rye whiskey bottled at 55% (110 proof). Heaven Hill makes it in Kentucky from extra-aged barrels kept in prime warehouse locations. The brand was first produced in Maryland in the 1890s. Prohibition shut it down along with the rest of the Maryland rye industry, but it returned afterwards and became the last Maryland rye still standing. The colour is pale copper. The nose is dusty cocoa over oaky smoke, and the palate is dry and spicy with honeyed rye and cloves, finishing on soft vanilla and baking spices.
