Pinhook 5 Year Old Cask Strength Single Barrel Bourbon (75cl, 59.1%)

This is a five year old Kentucky straight bourbon from Pinhook, bottled from a single barrel at cask strength and unfiltered, in a 750ml bottle. This release is 118.2 proof, though the exact strength varies by barrel. It comes from the first Pinhook cask-strength vintage distilled at Castle & Key in Frankfort, the restored Old Taylor Distillery. The mash bill is 75% corn, 15% rye and 10% malted barley. Pinhook bottles in annual vintages, and each bottle celebrates a thoroughbred. The nose is warm and rich, with molasses, roasted peanuts and caramel. The palate is dense, with baked apricot, vanilla and burnt sugar.
