Pinhook Flagship Rye is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey, distilled and aged at Castle & Key Distillery in Frankfort. It is bottled unfiltered at 48.5% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
The mashbill is 60% rye, 20% corn and 20% malted barley, and each release is aged for a minimum of two years. Pinhook treats every annual release as its own vintage rather than aiming for a house style that stays the same from year to year.
The nose offers ripe peach and pear with cinnamon, spearmint and honeycomb. The palate is soft, with cherry, baked apple, toffee, black pepper and clove. The finish is medium and slightly dry, with toffee, pepper and baking spice.
