Pinhook Hard Rye Guy 2021 (75cl, 49%)

Pinhook Hard Rye Guy is the 2021 vintage of Pinhook's Kentucky straight rye, distilled and aged at Castle & Key in Frankfort. It is bottled at 49% in a 750ml bottle. Each Pinhook vintage is named for a thoroughbred the brand sponsors, and this one takes its name from a three-year-old colt from Bourbon Lane Stables. The blend is built fresh from that year's barrels rather than to a fixed recipe, and the mash bill is 60% rye, 20% corn and 20% malted barley. The youngest whisky is 2 years old, with most of the blend 3 years or more. The nose offers apricot, cinnamon and eucalyptus. The palate is bold and spicy, with candied licorice, caramel and orange peel, and the finish is warm, peppery and lingering.
