Pinhook High Proof Magenta is an unfiltered Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 59.1% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is Pinhook's first bourbon made entirely from its own distillate, produced at the Castle & Key Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky.
The mashbill is 65% corn, 30% malted barley and 5% rye. Pinhook releases its bourbon and rye in annual batches, each named for a thoroughbred and identified by a colour.
The nose has molasses, roasted peanuts, caramel and pink peppercorn, with tangerine and brioche. The palate is full-bodied, with baked apricot, dark chocolate, toffee and baking spices on an oak base. The finish is long and dry, with cherries and toasted oak.
