Pittyvaich – 1989 20 Year Old Diageo Special Release (70cl, 57.5%)

A 20-year-old Pittyvaich single malt from the Diageo Special Releases series, in a 70cl bottle at 57.5% ABV. It was distilled in 1989 and bottled in 2009, and the edition numbers 6,000 bottles. Pittyvaich was open only from 1975 to 1993, so the distillery is now closed. This bottling is described as sweet, with vanilla and a robust, spicy character. The nose is fresh and fruity, with apples, peaches, oranges, nuts, marzipan and milk chocolate. The palate is fruity and robust, with milk chocolate, spice, coffee, tobacco, grass and mineral notes. The finish is medium in length and dry, with fruit, herbs and grass.
