Pittyvaich 28 Year Old is a single malt from the Speyside distillery of that name, which ran from 1975 until 1993. It was distilled in 1989 and bottled at cask strength, 52.1% ABV, as part of Diageo's Special Releases, with an outturn of 4,680 bottles.
The nose is dense and soft, with waxy notes, then ginger cake, lemon zest, honey and fresh mint over ripe red apple skin. The palate brings dark toffee, spice, charred apple strudel with raisins, toasted coconut and marzipan. The finish is very long, drying slowly with white pepper, cedar and a hint of smoke.
