Pittyvaich – 29 Year Old Special Release 2019 (51.4%)

This is Pittyvaich 29 Year Old from the 2019 Special Release, bottled at a cask strength of 51.4%. It was matured in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez casks, and it is the only double-matured Pittyvaich ever released. The distillery worked for just 19 years before closing in 1993, and this is the third special release from it since 2015. In all, 5,568 bottles were produced. The nose is soft, with faint fruit, dried flowers and a buttery mushroom note, and a drop of water brings out sweet ginger and hardwood shavings. The palate is rich and sweet, with dried fruit and candied peel before it turns spicy and dry. The finish is long and smooth, with ginger powder and a lingering warmth.
