Plantation Long Pond 2009 Jamaica Rum Spanish Orange Wine Cask Finish (70cl, 53.2%)

This is a Long Pond Jamaican rum distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2022 at 53.2% vol. It spent eight years in bourbon casks and four years in Ferrand casks, then a final seven months in Spanish orange wine casks. The nose brings blackberry jam, polished mahogany, dried apricots, red plums, cinnamon, Parma violet sweets, dried tobacco leaf and candied orange peel. With a few minutes in the glass, charred wood and a cherry and Bakewell tart note appear. The palate is sweet and fruity, with building spice, dark toffee, caramel, raspberry coulis, cherries and winter fruit cake. Chocolate and pink pepper emerge later, and the finish is long.
