Port Askaig 25 Year Old is an Islay single malt bottled by Elixir Distillers at 45.8% ABV, in a 750ml bottle. The distillery is not disclosed. The whisky is non-chill filtered and has no added colour.
Master blender Oliver Chilton selected the casks for tropical fruit and citrus character and a full-bodied texture. The Port Askaig range is named after the ferry port on the northeast coast of Islay.
Tasting notes describe brine, salt and sea spray on the nose, with gentle peat smoke, dried fruit, oak and spice. The palate is velvety, with softened smoke, honeyed sweetness, dark chocolate and dried fruit, and the finish is long and warm with spice and the sea.
