Port Askaig 8 Year Old is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky from Elixir Distillers, bottled at 45.8% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is non-chill filtered and has no added colouring.
Each batch is made up of about 50 barrels. Most are refill ex-bourbon American oak, joined by a selected share of Pedro Ximénez sherry casks.
The nose is typically grassy peat smoke, cereal, salt spray and wet stone, with honeysuckle and vanilla behind. The palate is creamy with honey, then earthy peat, liquorice and citrus. The finish is long and smoky, with charcoal and a faint echo of PX sweetness.
