Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2014 is a heavily peated single malt Scotch whisky from Bruichladdich, bottled at 50% ABV in a 75cl bottle. The barley, peated to 40 parts per million phenol, was all grown on farms within fifteen miles of the distillery. The spirit was matured for seven years in 84% first-fill bourbon casks, 8% second-fill virgin oak and 8% second-fill Bordeaux wine casks. The nose has malty digestive biscuits, peat embers, vanilla, honey and toffee, with lemon rind, grapefruit, melon, peach and red apple behind. The palate moves from citrus to ripe stone fruit and gentle peat smoke, with marine notes and toasted oak. The finish carries soft stone fruit, toasted oak and a dry barbecue smoke.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
