Port Charlotte PC6 is a peated Islay single malt, six years old and bottled at 61.6%. The malt is peated to 40ppm, and the spirit is trickle distilled, which is credited for its texture.
A Madeira cask influences the whisky, adding syrupy dates and raisins to the nose.
The nose opens on malt, peat and young spirit with green apple, mild mint, clove, bay leaf and forest greenwood. With water come meadowsweet, iris and honeysuckle, then bracken, smoke and vanilla. The palate has heat, smoke, spindrift and sweet citrus.
