A 34 year old Port Ellen from Islay, distilled in 1978 and issued as the 13th release in the Diageo Special Releases. It is bottled at 55% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The spirit was distilled a few years before the distillery closed and was later demolished. Port Ellen was originally made to go into blends, and the depth and finesse of its spirit were only fully recognised after the closure.
