This is a 21 year old Port Ellen, an independent bottling by Douglas Laing for its Old Malt Cask range. It is a single malt from Islay, bottled at 50% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky was distilled in September 1979 and bottled in April 2001 from a sherry cask, in a release of 618 bottles.
Port Ellen closed in 1983, and much of the distillery has since been demolished. Its warehouses remain, and a steadily decreasing number of casks still rest inside them.
