This is a 32-year-old Port Ellen distilled in 1979, issued as the 12th release in the Diageo Special Releases programme, in a 70cl bottle. Port Ellen was first known as a blending malt. After the distillery closed and was demolished, drinkers began to see how good the spirit was, and its standing grew within the Special Releases. Diageo has since revived Port Ellen.
