Port Ellen – 1983 23 Year Old Waddell Hepburn Collecting Whisky Single Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl, 54.1%)

A 23 year old Islay single malt from Port Ellen, distilled in 1983 and bottled in 2006 by Waddell Hepburn Co. as part of its Collecting Whisky series. It is bottled at 54.1% ABV in 70cl, with an outturn of 60 bottles. The whisky was produced in the final years before the distillery closed. On the nose are citrus zest, dried apricots and vanilla. The palate brings peat smoke, salted caramel and dark chocolate, and the finish is a lingering sweetness with subtle seaweed notes.
