This is the 11th Release of Port Ellen, a 32 year old Islay single malt from the closed Port Ellen distillery. It was distilled in 1979 and bottled in 2011 as part of Diageo's Annual Special Releases.
The whisky matured in refill American oak casks and is bottled at its natural cask strength of 53.9% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. Some 2,964 bottles were released.
It is described as having elegant peat smoke, coastal salinity, charred oak and citrus peel, with a long, warming finish.
